The Golden State Warriors are gearing up to swing for the fences and make a move to acquire Milwaukee superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is quickly becoming a once in a generation player. He is dominating the league on his way to winning back-to-back MVP’s and the Golden State Warriors are taking note.
The Warriors have been notorious for stacking the deck and acquiring the best players available. Names such as Kevin Durant, DeMarcus Cousins, D’Angelo Russell and now Andrew Wiggins have all made their way to the Bay Area recently.
Could Giannis be the next big name to join the dynasty? According to Erin Pincus of Bleacher Report, some teams around the league believe a potential trade is in the cards.
A package featuring Wiggins and a number of first-round draft picks could become available to the Milwaukee Bucks should they ever consider trading their MVP. Of course, this would only happen as a direct result of Giannis attempting to leave in free agency anyways.
The Greek Freak is averaging 30.0 points, 13.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists a game as he has led the Bucks to the best record in the NBA (48-8). He is storming away from the rest of the competition and could arguably be the league’s second-ever unanimous MVP winner.
Giannis has already done more than enough to earn the respect of Stephen Curry who was accused of openly recruiting him to the Warriors earlier in the season. Coincidentally, Antetokounmpo just broke Curry’s record for most 30 point games in under 30 minutes in a single season.
The Warriors would be unstoppable with Giannis on their roster but it’s hard to imagine the Bucks feeling content with swapping their franchise superstar for an underwhelming player such as Wiggins. Even a number of the first-round draft picks likely won’t be enough to persuade them.
