LOOK: Miami Aircraft Crashes Into Florida River

A United States commercial aircraft has skidded off a runway into a river in Florida with 136 passengers on board.

The crash of the Miami Air plane reportedly happened in the St Johns River in Jacksonville.

All those on board were alive and accounted for and a marine unit was sent to assist, Jacksonville Police said in a statement on Twitter.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said he’d been briefed by fire and rescue teams.

“We have a commercial plane down in the river,” he said on Twitter.

“They are on the scene. While they work, please pray.”

Last month, Fiji Airways leased a Boeing 737-800 aircraft from Miami Air to cover flights affected by the temporary grounding of its two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

An airline spokesperson said the chartered Miami Air aircraft would operate Fiji Airways’ flights between Nadi and Auckland, Apia, Christchurch and Brisbane.

The leased aircraft would operate with Miami Air cabin crew and pilots with a Fiji Airways’ purser or senior flight attendant onboard to oversee the cabin experience.
