Popular dancehall personality ‘Oney British’ was reportedly shot and killed by unknown assailants riding a motorbike a few minutes after 9 pm on Friday.
An alleged eyewitness told Loop News that Oney had left the National Stadium and was driving along Mountain View when armed men on a motorbike shot up his car.
The car veered out of control and slammed into a column outside a popular shop.
The Corporate Communication Unit confirmed that there had been a shooting in the vicinity of the National Stadium and that one man was dead.
“The Stadium police detectives are processing the murder scene right now, but we are unable to confirm the identity of the man killed,” a representative of the CCU said.
‘Oney British’ was a member of the high-profile British Link Up crew along with Owen Clarke, popularly known as ‘Roy Fowl’ or ‘Father Fowl’, who was shot and killed last month.
Clarke was buried earlier this week in Troja, St Catherine.
Reports are that the shooting was done by two bike riders who shot Clarke several times, with his body collapsing in a bloody pool under a red Range Rover jeep parked on Grove Road in Kencot, St Andrew. The police are yet to apprehend the perpetrators involved in his death.
