Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors now has nine straight games with at least 20 points. Per the Warriors PR’s Twitter account, this is Thompson’s new career-high.
Thompson achieved the feat in their 128-111win over the Atlanta Hawks. He finished the game with 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field, 3-of-5 from downtown, and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. He also snagged eight rebounds and dished out two assists.
His streak started in the Warriors’ 112-109 loss to the Dallas Mavericks where he scored 22 points on 9-of-24 shooting. Prior to that, he logged in just 10 points on 5-of-16 shooting in a loss against the Houston Rockets.
This is a welcome trend for the 28-year-old who started off the season slow. In the first seven games, Klay Thompson did not reach the 20-point mark. Though he did well from the field, he couldn’t find the mark from downtown: he didn’t convert on a single 3-pointer on two of those seven games.
But in classic fashion, in the Warriors’ eighth game of the season, Klay Thompson exploded for 52 points with 14 makes from downtown — an NBA record.
It pretty much proved that a scoring outburst is about to take place after Thompson struggles to find his touch. Shooters like him can never stay cold for so long.
Klay Thompson has 21 points, giving him a new career-best streak of nine-straight games with at least 20 points.
