Riley Curry, the adorable daughter of Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry, already knows what she wants to be when she grows up.
The Warriors’ sharpshooting guard wrote a personal piece of The Players’ Tribune. He started the article off with Riley’s dreams and ambitions. While most kids rebel on their parents and shun their professions, Riley wants to be just like Stephen and Ayesha:
“So let the record state:
Riley, our six-year-old daughter, wants to be like her parents.
I know, I know — it’s not going to last forever.
And I know….. that rebellious phase….. it’s coming.
But for right now?
Well, we asked Riley, ‘Hey, Ri Ri — what do you want to be when you grow up?’
And she didn’t miss a beat. ‘A basketball player cook.’
Like I said, the girl is really feeling her parents these days.”
Curry did acknowledge that at some point, Riley will discover her own aspirations. She probably wants to be a ‘basketball player cook’ because she is surrounded by people with such professions and she sure is picking up on her parents’ talents:
“Either way, though, the skills are there. She’s dribbling 100 times in a row now, continuously — and we’re working on getting the left hand up to par. (Yes, the jumper is legit.)
And then on the cooking front, Riley’s big thing is making everything: from pasta, to cake, to eggs, to….. slime. She has us set up her camera while she’s doing her thing in the lab, and pretends like she hosts her own YouTube show. It’s crazy. I probably wouldn’t recommend eating the slime (too much glue), but her fundamentals — they’re already sound: elite-level recipe-building, and a lot of really creative color choices.”
In 10 years, this will probably change. But Curry, who also grew up to be a basketball player like his dad, would definitely love Riley to follow in their footsteps. It could be his secret desire. But the two-time MVP’s real dream for Riley is to be whatever she wants to be, as long as she’s happy.
